Supporting manufacturers to address compliance through major regulatory changes
5 December 2025, Germany: Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, is pleased to announce that Intertek Deutschland GmbH has achieved accreditation to become a Notified Body under the new EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.
This achievement uniquely positions Intertek to ensure continued and comprehensive support for manufacturers placing machinery on the European market as the new regulation replaces the current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC from January 2027.
The EU Machinery Regulation modernises the legal framework for machinery safety, reflecting evolving technologies and market needs. Key changes include the introduction of digital documentation requirements, extended essential health and safety obligations, enhanced market surveillance, and specific provisions addressing cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, as well as updated conformity assessment procedures.
Through this accreditation, Intertek demonstrates its leading technical competence and readiness to deliver third-party conformity assessment services under the new regulation. The company is currently progressing through the final steps of the EU notification process, with official designation and publication on the NANDO (New Approach Notified and Designated Organisations) website pending in the second half of December 2025.
In anticipation of full designation, Intertek Germany – in collaboration with the global Intertek network – is ready to offer comprehensive compliance solutions under the new Machinery Regulation. As the go-to-expert provider for both European and global manufacturers looking to successfully navigate the transition and ensure continuous market access, Intertek also offers guidance on the updated requirements including AI and cybersecurity, as well as gap analyses to identify necessary adjustments to safety concepts, technical documentation, and processes. Intertek’s services are designed to support organisations in navigating the transition from the current Machinery Directive.
Timo Lieber, Vice President ECA Electrical and Innovation, Managing Director Electrical and TT Nordics, commented: “We are honoured to receive this accreditation, reinforcing our leading role in supporting the industry and providing regulatory certainty in this time of change. Our specialist expertise and dedication make us the trusted partner that organisations rely on throughout their compliance journeys, from design and prototyping to conformity assessment and beyond.”
Pierrick Balaire, Global Business Director, added: “Achieving this important milestone strengthens our ability to support manufacturers globally. We are proud to be recognised for our competence in this area and look forward to offering accredited services once our designation is complete. Our goal is to ensure customers can continue to access the European market efficiently and in full compliance with the new regulatory framework.”
Intertek will provide further updates upon completion of the designation process and official listing as a Notified Body.
